Every wedding is unique, so your timeline should reflect your priorities! The most important thing is to build a schedule that lets you savor the day and ensures it flows smoothly. A well-paced timeline means more laughter, more memories, and more incredible photos to cherish for years.

6. Cocktail Hour & Reception (Varies)
If you want to mingle during cocktail hour, consider finishing most photos beforehand. For receptions, a typical order of events includes:
🎤 Grand entrance
🍽️ Dinner
🗣️ Toasts & speeches
💃 First dances
🎉 Open dance floor
5. Couple’s Portraits (30–45 Minutes)
This is your time—just the two of you! Whether at golden hour or after the ceremony, setting aside 30–45 minutes ensures we capture romantic, just-married moments.
3. The Ceremony (30 Minutes – 1 Hour)
This is the heart of your day—your moment, whether it’s a brief vow exchange or a traditional ceremony.
4. Family & Wedding Party Photos (30–60 Minutes)
After the ceremony, plan enough time for formal group photos. A good rule of thumb is:
✅ Family Photos: At least 30 minutes - I like to get this out of the way as fast as possible. They aren't the fun shots, but they are the ones everyone wants!
✅ Full Wedding Party: 20 to 30 minutes
2. First Look or Pre-Ceremony Photos (Optional – 30–45 Minutes)
If you’re doing a first look, this is the perfect time for an intimate, emotional moment together before the ceremony. You can also take wedding party photos in advance to save time later.
1. Getting Ready (2–3 Hours Before the Ceremony)
Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the morning without feeling rushed. Plan for:
✅ Hair and makeup (typically 60–90 minutes per person, so plan accordingly!)
✅ Candid moments with your bridal party
✅ Getting dressed (buttoning up a gown or pinning boutonnieres always takes longer than you think!)
✅ A few relaxed, joyful pre-ceremony portraits
Wedding planning can feel overwhelming, but your timeline should support you. The right schedule keeps everything on track and allows you to soak in the experience. It also ensures your vendors—whether photographer, coordinator, or caterer—work at their best without rushing.
A well-planned wedding day timeline is the key to a smooth, stress-free celebration—and one that allows you to truly enjoy the moment! From getting ready to your grand exit, thoughtful timing ensures everything flows seamlessly while also giving us the best opportunity to capture gorgeous, meaningful images.
