Tom and Pam have been together for many years — the steady, built-a-life-together kind of years. And this winter, they decided it was finally time to make it official.

They did it in a way that fit them perfectly.

This was a true elopement. Just Tom and Pam, Pam’s two kids and their partners, making the trip from Alpena to beautiful (and still very snowy) Gun Lake for a wedding weekend at Bay Pointe’s Boathouse. It felt relaxed from the start — more “let’s spend the weekend together” than “big production,” which I loved.

Bay Pointe Inn hosted their first-ever Valentine’s Day elopement date this year, and Tom and Pam took full advantage of it. Their ceremony was short, sweet, and meaningful — no frills, no fuss, just the two of them choosing each other with their favorite people standing nearby.

And then we headed outside.

It was sunny (a true gift in February), much warmer than it had been this year so far, and the snow along the lake gave us the prettiest light to work with. The kind that makes everything feel bright and fresh. We wandered a bit, soaked it in, and created portraits that felt easy and natural — a mix of real laughs and the “fake it til you make it” kind (you had to be there 😉).

There was so much happiness in that small group. So much comfort. So much this is exactly how we wanted to do this.

I’m finding myself more and more drawn to days like this — intimate, intentional, rooted in connection and beautiful locations. There’s something special about having the space to slow down, explore a little, and let the moments unfold without a packed timeline.

Pam and Tom, thank you for trusting me to document your perfectly you kind of wedding day. It was simple, joyful, and such a sweet way to start this next chapter.

I’m so excited to share more from their winter celebration below.
