It all started at a band competition years ago. Somehow, between the music, the chaos, and everything else happening that day, Kelly and Mitchell found each other—and they've been inseparable ever since.

And after all those years together, they finally made it official!

The day started out wet, and I mean WET. But Kelly? Completely unfazed. She was one of those brides who just rolled with whatever the day decided to throw at her. Rain? Fine. Mud? Fine. Whatever happened, happened—and she was going to enjoy her wedding day no matter what.

Thankfully, just when we needed it, the rain cleared and gave us a beautiful rest of the day. A pretty good preview of the beautiful future these two have ahead of them.

Kelly also had some really special family details worked into her wedding day. Most of her jewelry came from her mom, including a beautiful set of real pearls that her mom gave her as a new family heirloom after an older set had gone missing over the years. And the clips in her hair? Those were actually shoe clips her grandmother, “Mimi,” wore at her own wedding. Kelly's mom wore them at hers, too, making Kelly the third bride in the family to wear them—she just moved them from her shoes to her hair. It was such a sweet way to feel like Mimi was there with her all day.

And she must have really looked the part. My favorite thing about photographing these two was watching Mitchell whenever he looked at Kelly. He's pretty reserved, but that seemed to disappear the second he looked at her. His whole face would light up, and you could tell just how happy he was to finally be standing there with the woman he's loved for all these years.

Kelly really appreciates photos, so we took plenty of time for them—especially photos of the newlyweds. We wandered around, found some beautiful (and slightly less wet) spots, and made the most of the break in the weather. And yes, by the end of the night I was pretty thoroughly muddy and soggy… but honestly, I wouldn't change a thing. 😂

The whole day felt so completely relaxed and happy. It was full of laughter, and Mitchell and Kelly were surrounded by the people who have been part of their lives along the way.

It was such a perfect wedding day, and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it.

Kelly and Mitchell, congratulations! After all those years, I'm so happy you each found your person!
