There’s nothing more exciting to me than the start of wedding season—or at least when it almost starts! May kicked off with a bang, and I spent the first weekend photographing for the first time in forever. I started things off with Noah and Emma, who are getting married next year, and it was finally time to capture their engagement session.

Emma had a vision of lush greens for the first part of their shoot, so we began among some towering pines she had picked out. From there, we made our way to a beautiful stretch of beach along Lake Michigan, just north of Grand Haven. Years ago, Emma’s aunt had her engagement photos taken there (by me—love it!), and Emma knew it would be the perfect spot to wrap up her own session with Noah.

These two were such a joy to photograph. Even though Noah isn’t a huge fan of being in front of the camera, he was a total trooper—and it’s obvious how much he adores Emma. We ended the evening with chilly toes dipped in the lake (SO cold, but so worth it). Their session was a dream from start to finish, and I already know their wedding day is going to be just as magical. I can’t wait to see them again next year!
