It’s so like me to take way too many photos at a friend’s wedding—but how could I not? Amber and Coker’s day was absolutely beautiful, and it was such a joy (okay, let’s call it what it was: an honor) to be the one behind the camera for it.

Amber is one of my very closest friends and someone who has trusted me with photos for years, so being part of this day meant a lot. She and Coker were married on a very hot and humid Friday here in Michigan—so hot, in fact, that we thought a storm might blow in right before the ceremony. Thankfully, the ominous clouds passed us by, and the rest of the day went off without a hitch.

Just one week earlier, Amber and Coker were in Nigeria celebrating their marriage with Coker’s family. This time, it was the Michigan and North Dakota crew’s turn to join the celebration—and celebrate, they did! Coker’s roots in Nigeria were beautifully woven into the day, with several friends traveling in and bringing such a rich energy to the party. The dance floor was packed all night, and yes, there was money flying! (A Nigerian tradition that was so fun to witness.)

Amber and Coker are also expecting a baby boy this December—another sweet layer of happiness for this growing family. Coker has two sons and a step-daughter, and watching Amber step into that role as a parent with so much heart and ease has been incredible. Throughout the day it was so evident just how many lives Amber has touched with her love and kindness. The way people showed up for them—from family to friends, from across the country and across the world—was a beautiful testament to the kind of people they are, and how deeply loved they both are.

Again, it was such an honor to capture this beautiful day for my wonderful friend and her new husband. I can't wait to see what adventure the two of you embark on next!
