To each individual person, photography is something different. To some it is simply a means to copy an event or object; pure record and nothing more. To others, it is a means of expression and art; something that allows them to show the world not simply what is seen, but how to see it, on levels that are invisible with a mere first glance.
And for some, photography is a combination of the two. For me, this art form is an issue of memory; a personal history recorded and artistically created that expresses something not only visual on the surface of things, but coming from another, deeper place within the subject being photographed. Photography is an art form that can take one moment and turn it into something truly meaningful.
Life is a collection of memories. Looking back on these memories helps you see where you've been, who you are, and even a glimpse of what's next. Memory is not a single snapshot; just one fuzzy, off-centered moment is incomplete. Memory is a collage, an image that can show you so much more than just a second in time. My goal as a photographer is to create such a collage, images that capture a moment and create a memory that will continue on every time you choose to take a look.
